The Greater Washington Mobile Photography Awards (“Awards”) is initiated and hosted by the Washington Cultural Arts Foundation (WCAF). The annual Awards serves as a global platform for mobile photography enthusiasts, both amateurs and professionals, to share, connect, and celebrate the art of capturing life’s most captivating moments through the lens of a mobile device, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries. It’s a place where the beauty of mobile photography intertwines with the compelling stories and diverse emotions behind each photograph.

Established in 2021, the Awards quickly gained international acclaim for its high-caliber entries and a panel of expert judges from the world of photography. Since its inception, the Awards has witnessed double growth, with each edition surpassing the last. The third edition in 2023 saw over 1,000 entries from almost 500 participants, not only from the United States but also from China, Australia, Southeast Asia, and European countries. The remarkable expansion has elevated the competition to an internationally recognized platform, setting the stage for the fourth edition in 2024, which will be rebranded as the “Greater Washington International Mobile Photography Awards”. Anticipated to attract over 1,000 participants and showcase more than 3,000 entries, this edition promises to be the most captivating yet.

Supported by over 30 esteemed photography organizations worldwide, including the Atlantic Photographers Association, the New York Photography Society, the San Francisco Photographer Alliance, and the Canadian International Photography Association, the Awards has become a beacon for mobile photography enthusiasts. Additionally, it has fostered a vibrant community of thousands, actively engaged in sharing their work and participating in expert-led critiques, mobile photography lectures, photography tours, and other enriching activities organized by the Organizing Committee of the Awards.

The fourth edition of the Awards will commence its call for entries in October 2024, with the updated rules set to be unveiled in May 2024. The prestigious award ceremony is slated for March 2025, coinciding with the blooming of cherry blossoms, a symbol of beauty and renewal.
